Halloween 2011

So I some how decided to make a ringmaster outfit... not really sure where the thought came from.

The body of the coat is Simplicity pattern 3685 sleeves came from simplicity 2525. The tails were drafted by me.  all is done except.... I can't quite figure out how to get the lining at the cuff sewn in without looking like junk; it doesn't want to lay nicely. It's a deep red velveteen. The photos don't do the color justice. The lining is an inexpensive satin.

Gratuitous pic of lining.

There is a corset looking vest to be worn under the coat. it's visible in the second pic. The pattern came from here: http://makeprojects.com/Project/Crafting-a-Corset/103/1 It needed heavy alterations and hours of tinkering.. sigh I know better than to try to make a corset from a premade pattern, I was just really interested in the whatchacall'ems um gores? cups?...  I'll post pictures of it later. It is done except for the buttons I want to add (to make it more vest-like) and the binding... ugh. Any tips on how to apply that without spending hours hand sewing? and then I was wondering if it needed some cute little vest-like pockets but I think I may be going over board on that one.

Also there are hot pants! Black velvet hot pants. haha. I am thinking of swapping them out for the Collette mini bloomers I made a few months back but the bf says they don't fit the outfit as well. http://www.colettepatterns.com/files/free-patterns/colette-patterns-0001-bloomers.pdf  Sorry the pic is sideways...
